Questions and answers
How to Rent a Salon Suite
What independent beauty and wellness professionals ask before leasing a suite at Elegance Salon Suites in Largo, FL.
The basics
- What is a salon suite?
- A salon suite is a private, lockable room inside a building made for independent beauty and wellness professionals. You lease the room and run your own business in it: your clients, your prices, your products and your schedule.
- How is a salon suite different from booth rental or commission?
- On commission, the salon keeps a share of every service. With booth rental, you rent a chair in someone else's open salon. In a suite you rent a private room of your own, pay one rent, and keep the rest, though you also buy your own products and handle your own taxes. Our calculator lets you compare with your own numbers.
- How do I rent a salon suite at Elegance?
- Four steps: book a free tour, choose the suite size that fits your services, review the terms in writing, then sign your lease and move in. Nothing is paid on this website.
- Who can rent a suite?
- Licensed beauty and wellness professionals with an established clientele: hairstylists, barbers, braiders, lash and brow artists, estheticians, nail techs, massage therapists, PMU and tattoo artists. See all suite types.
Cost
- How much does it cost to rent a salon suite at Elegance?
- Suites at Elegance run $250–$425 a week, depending on suite size. We'll share the exact rate for the suite you want on your tour.
- What does the rent cover?
- Utilities, maintenance and Wi-Fi are covered, so there are no surprise utility bills. Every suite has a private sink and 24-hour keyless entry. On-site laundry is available.
- Is there a deposit?
- For Founding Suites, a deposit equal to two weeks' rent holds your suite. It's credited toward your rent in your first month, so it isn't an extra fee. You'll get the full reservation terms in writing before you pay anything.
- What other costs should I plan for?
- The usual costs of running your own business: your products and supplies, professional liability insurance, booking and payment software, card processing fees, your state licenses, and your own taxes. Our free Suite Readiness Checklist helps you plan for them.
The suites
- What sizes are the suites?
- There are 14 suites in four sizes: small, standard, large and double. Every suite has a private sink, and standard, large and double suites also have a shampoo bowl. See all 14 suites or explore the floor plan in 3D.
- Are the suites furnished?
- You can choose furnished or unfurnished. Furnished suites include an LED styling station, a color backbar and a styling chair.
- Can I decorate my suite?
- Yes. You can paint, add equipment and personalize the suite to match your brand.
- Can I work any hours I want?
- Yes. You have 24-hour keyless entry and you set your own hours.
- How long is the lease?
- Suites are offered on weekly or monthly terms, and rent is charged weekly. Founding members choose a rate lock of 12, 18 or 24 months. We'll go over the options on your tour.
Licensing in Florida
- Do I need a license to rent a salon suite in Florida?
- Yes. You need an active Florida license for the services you offer. In most cases the suite itself also needs its own salon license from the state, because you are operating your own business there, and massage therapists need an establishment license. Rules change, so confirm the current requirements with the Florida DBPR or, for massage, the Florida Board of Massage Therapy.
- Do I need insurance?
- We recommend professional liability insurance for every independent professional. Your lease will state exactly what is required.
